With the legalization of Gay Marriage in all 50 States taking up most of our news on this fine Friday, with all the Liberals crying for joy and Conservatives crying in agony, it’s nice to avert our attention to a new topic for just a few moments.

As many automotive enthusiasts are aware, China is going gaga over GM’s luxury-ish marque Buick. Their Chinese market even consists of unique models that aren’t available in the US, despite their American background—think of it as Ford in the UK (the Mondeo, although it was originally just a Contour hatchback, wasn’t even available in North America until 2013, rebadged as the 2nd Gen. Fusion)

China will be getting a new model that isn’t necessarily new to us. The Buick Verano will be coming to the People’s Republic in a different body than the one we have here, but not for long.

A mule was found being tested in the concrete jungle of Chicago just recently. And yes, it was fully exposed for the public eye. The only differences one might expect between the North American and Chinese variants is the lack of a colored crest on the front or rear, as well as a lack of hieroglyphs. In plain English, this is the 2016/2017 Buick Verano.

......as well as a lack of hieroglyphs

I can see why you’d use hieroglyphs if you were selling in ancient Egypt, but would they be of much use in China?

If it were me making the decision, I’d use Chinese characters.

I get a slight CLA vibe in the stance and some sculpting, except not as “melted-bar-of-soap” as the Mercedes.
